This year Arena Studios and Gallery offered its first Graduate’s Residency to a Fine Art degree student from Liverpool Hope University. The winner, Tony Dixon, was Artist in Residence in the Arena Gallery for one week in August, resulting in an exhibition opening on Friday 28th August 6pm – 9pm.
Tony says “My current practice originates from an exploration into the apparent dividing line between painting and sculpture. Working predominantly with metal, wood and paint, I am attempting to comment on the form, fluidity and fragility of certain objects. I employ humour and deception, through composition and material selection, to create a sense of animism within the work.”
