Josie Jenkins is an award winning artist based in Liverpool, UK. She studied for her BA Hons in Fine Art (Painting) at Norwich School of Art and Design, UK, graduating in 2002 and has since exhibited in the UK and internationally. Josie was born in The East Riding of Yorkshire and worked as an artist in Hull and Nottinghamshire, before settling in Liverpool.
Josie’s practice is concerned with both the making of visual art and the organising and execution of artistic projects. This work has included teaching, writing and facilitating platforms for artists to engage with one another and with the public. Josie is compelled to organise things and people and in turn her visual practice is concerned with order and humanity.
Josie’s work explores the human interest in order, often depicting the physical evidence of human behaviour or representing concepts through symbolic imagery. She is interested in making work which brings about the emotions of wonder, either due to its subject matter or through the construction of the artwork and takes inspiration from the incongruity found in our modern world.
